Tom Mahoney joined Sterling Newton in the Fall of 2015 offering an advanced education and a diverse, nearly thirty year sales, marketing and business development background, along with an enthusiastic desire to grow into the Financial Advisory role, obtaining his Florida 2-15 Life, Health and Annuities license and Medicare certification.
A graduate of John Carroll University, Tom spent the early stages of his career in a progressive management training role with Fortune 100 company, Rockwell International’s Automotive Division, also earning his MBA in Management and Finance from Xavier University, before transitioning into the golf industry in varying roles ranging from national/international advertising/sponsorship sales with Golfweek Magazine and project management and development with Golf Datatech to start up roles with Golf Channel in its infancy and, more recently, with the first ever digital-only weekly golf publication, Global Golf Post and then C7 Creative, a leading Jacksonville web design company.
In transitioning to the First Coast from Orlando, Tom immediately recognized the vibrant environment and growth opportunities to work on behalf of small business owners here. He has been active in the local chamber and the state’s initiative, Start Up Quest, a partnership between UF and Employ Florida.
Causes important to Tom have included an increased level of involvement at his church, Our Lady Star of the Sea, The Gabriel House of Care and the American Cancer Society’s Relay For Life of Ponte Vedra, in meaningful committee board and charitable fundraising roles.
Tom and his wife, Judy, a Philips Healthcare Regional Enterprise Account Manager, have actively embraced their transition to the area, enjoying the beach, participating in a couple of marathons, playing golf, but also getting away to join their singer-songwriter and daughter, Caitlin, whenever possible on tour, and their son Dan, a Class A PGA Club Professional.
